Joseph E. Van Cleve, 91, a long time Sloan and Hornick area farmer died Saturday at the Onawa hospital after a long illness.

Funeral services were held a t 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Sloan Christian Church. Rev. James Larsen officiated. Burial was in Holly Springs cemetery. A prayer service was held Monday evening at 7:30 at the Wood Funeral home.

Mr. Van Cleve was born Sept. 22, 1876 at Albaton, Iowa. He married Nellie Mae Forney, Aug. 3, 1901, at Sloan.

Survivors include the widow, five daughters, Mrs. Clinton Metcalf of Sioux City, Mrs. Alice of Anaheim, Calif, Mrs. Clarence Davis of Anthon, Mrs. John Blackwell of Fullerton, Calif and Mrs. Williard Napier of Grants Pass, Ore.: a son Victor of Hornick and a sister, Mrs. Ida Swope of Maywood, Calif.
