Whiting, Iowa -- Marian E. Piercy, 79, of Whiting died Thursday, March 9, 1995, at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa.

Services will be 10 a.m. Monday at the Church of Christ in Whiting with the Rev. Shawn Walden officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery in Holly Springs, Iowa. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m. today at the Wood Funeral Home in Sloan, Iowa.

She was born July 24, 1915, in Holly Springs, the daughter of Charles L. and Elizabeth (Becker) Farney. She graduated from Holly Springs High School. She married Haskell Andrew Piercy March 7, 1936, in Sloan, Iowa. He died Oct. 13, 1980. She operated Hap’s Place in Holly Springs for over 25 years, retiring in 1977.

Mrs. Piercy was a member of the Whiting Church of Christ and the Holly Springs Ladies Aid.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Nancy and Glen Rose of San Benito, Texas; a son and his wife, Chuck and Barbara Piercy of Yuba City, Calif.; two grandsons, Todd and Kim Rose; two granddaughters, Michelle and Kelly Benedix, and six great-grandchildren.

She was also preceded in death by three grandchildren, a brother and a sister.
