Floyd E. Redwing, 75, of Onawa, Iowa passed away Sunday, July 26, 2020 at his residence.

Per his wishes, cremation has occurred. No services are being planned at this time. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Floyd E. Redwing was born on February 3, 1945, in Wagner, South Dakota, the son of Arthur and Clarice Dorothy (Chinn) Redwing. He grew up in South Dakota. He attended Western Iowa Tech Community College in Sioux City, Iowa where he received his Welding Degree.

Floyd was a welder and mechanic at various places over the years. He enjoyed singing at many wakes and funerals all over the United States. He also enjoyed listening to Country Music. Floyd loved spending time with his family, wife, kids and grandkids.

Floyd served in the United States Navy from July 17, 1964 until his honorable discharge on September 27, 1969. He served during the Vietnam War on the U.S.S. Independence CVA-62.

Floyd E. Redwing and Kitty Joan (McDonald) were united into marriage on June 30, 2001 at the McDonald Farm near Castana, Iowa.

He was a member and lay reader at the Episcopal Church in Vermilion, South Dakota. Floyd was also a member of the Yankton Sioux Tribe.

Survivors include his wife, Kitty Redwing of Onawa, Iowa; his four children, Clark Towner, Brad Towner, Meri (Matt) Habeger, and TaNeale Towner, all of Sioux City, Iowa; thirty-one grandchildren; fifteen great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one sister, Delores (Martin) Redwing Jones of Snyder, Nebraska; and many nieces and nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Arthur and Clarice Dorothy (Chinn) Redwing; two brothers, Robert Redwing and Arthur Kenneth Redwing; and four sisters, Melda Fire Thunder, Delphine Mindenhall, Carolyn Redwing, and Eva Dudley.
