Steven Robert Burbridge 1953 - 2021

Steven Robert Burbridge, 67, of Ute, Iowa passed away Thursday, June 24, 2021 at his residence.

A memorial service will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, July 2, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa. Military Honors will be provided by the United States Army and David McNeill American Legion Post #129, Onawa, Iowa. Honor Guard will be provided by the Iowa Sheriffs and Deputies Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Steven Robert was born October 12, 1953 the son of Robert and Mary Burbridge. He grew up in Mondamin, Iowa and graduated from West Harrison High School in 1971. He served in the United States Army and was stationed in Italy.

Steven married Ranea Marie Little in 1973. The couple later divorced. Steven married Rhonda in 1995. Steven enjoyed farming until 1986. Then he attended the Police Academy in Des Moines, Iowa. In 1986 Steven started as a Deputy Sheriff Officer for Monona County Sheriff’s Office and was promoted to Sergeant in 2006. He retired in 2015. Steven was a caregiver for his wife and took care of her until his passing.

He enjoyed fishing, gardening, the outdoors, and farming. He especially loved to collect books and read.

Survivors include his wife Rhonda Burbridge of Ute, Iowa; his children, Jennifer Burbridge of Ute, Iowa, and Nathan (Jessica) Burbridge of Glen Carbon, Illinois; step daughter, Tammy (Tim) Leise; twelve grandchildren, Landon, Beau, Isabelle, Nedelle, Bethanie, Balen, Grace, Clare, Miles, Dacey, Jordan, and Conner; brothers and sisters, Chuck (Lori) Burbridge, Cliff (Sue) Burbridge, Eileen (Donnie) Lisle, Penny (Steve) Barrier, and Mary Ann (Ivan) Campbell; step sister, JoAnne Moss; mother-in-law, Virginia Priestley; and brother-in-law, Don Collison.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Mary Burbridge; son, Todd Burbridge; first wife, Ranea Little; parents-in-law, Ginny (Dean) Major; and father-in-law, Gale Priestley; and sister-in-law, JoRene Collison.
