Michael F. Hart, 73, of Whiting, Iowa passed away Thursday, November 12, 2020 at MercyOne Siouxland Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa.

A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, July 31, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Father Michael Erpelding, celebrant, officiating. Burial will follow in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa with Military Honors provided by the United States Army and David McNeill American Legion Post #129, Onawa, Iowa. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Michael Francis was born August 26, 1947 in Onawa, Iowa the son of Laurence and Lucille (Rock) Hart.

Mike was very proud of his United States Army service, where he was assigned to a General as an art illustrator. Mike served in Korea and was honorably discharged in December 1969. After a long career with the National Park Service, he retired in 1998. He was a talented artist and worked as a Visual Information Specialist. After retirement, he worked as an independent contractor on many projects, including illustrations and drawings for the Lewis and Clark Trail.

Mike collected antiques and old cars. He was an avid water skier and enjoyed boating and spending time with family and friends. In his later years, Mike lived next to the Mighty Mo (Missouri River) with his loyal dog Biscuit where they would sit for hours and watch the boats on the Missouri to pass by. He will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Mike is survived by his son, Jayson L. Hart; grandsons, Austin and Michael Hart; granddaughter, Anastacia Gonzalez; his brother, Dennis R. (Kaye) Hart; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Rita (Benedict) Hart; and his parents, Laurence and Lucille (Rock) Hart.
