Debbie Ingram was a ray of sunshine who spread kindness wherever she went. She was a caring wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. She left this world on May 20, 2021, at the age of 58.

Memorial services will be 10:00 A.M. Thursday, May 27, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel, Onawa, Iowa with Pastor Michael Lewis officiating. (Please bring and wear masks). In light of wearing black please wear something bright and cheery. Her favorite color was yellow. Burial will be in the Onawa Cemetery, Onawa, Iowa. Visitation will be 5:00 - 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, May 26, 2021 at the Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

She was born to James and Kay Schmitz on December 3, 1962. After graduating from high school, Debbie started her sweet little family with Doug Boynton and they had three children: Jesse, Sarah, and Colton. Debbie often said, "The best part of my life was when you kids were little." She loved being a mother to her children and anyone else that might need a little extra love.

Debbie moved to Onawa where she met her husband Bruce and they married on June 7, 2002. They enjoyed going on Friday date nights at the local pub and thrifting adventures to find the next diamond in the rough. They also loved going for drives together in the hills hunting for bittersweet where they would joke about needing a license for picking. Never needing anything fancy, simply sitting together around the table and talking was a perfect way to end the day.

Debbie loved spending time in the kitchen and was a fabulous cook. She also enjoyed baking, there was always a jar full of cookies waiting for anyone who might stop by. Her red velvet cake could have won 1st place in a bake-off among many other delicious treats she would whip up. Her home was a gathering place for her children's friends whether it was after school, getting ready for a dance, or late-night slumber parties. At Debbie's house, the door was always open, the food was always on, and the beers were always cold.

Debbie lived by the motto, “Choose to be kind” and that is just what she did. Debbie worked in a variety of different fields throughout her life. They all involved taking care of people, it was something she did best. She worked at Elmwood Care Centre for many years. She enjoyed caring for the residents and building relationships with them and their families. She met many friends along the way, including her dear friend LaDonna. After retiring she often visited the residents and volunteered in the activities department baking and doing other fun activities.

Anyone who knew Debbie knew she had a way of making everything special. It could have been the perfectly sprinkled cupcake made special for one of her grandchildren, a feather sent in the mail, or the perfect bow for a gift. Everything was homemade with love and attention. She loved her family and they meant everything to her.

She is survived by her parents, Jim and Kay Schmitz of Omaha, Nebraska; her husband, Bruce Ingram of Onawa, Iowa; her brothers and sisters, Doug (Susan) Schmitz of Las Vegas, Nevada; Todd (Mary) Schmitz of Bennington, Nebraska; Krista (David) Bennet of Waterloo, Nebraska; Tim (Regina) Schmitz of Bennington, Nebraska; Adam (Jodi) of Flagstaff, Arizona; Amy (Brian) Hindley of Omaha, Nebraska; her mother-in-law, Shirley Ingram of Whiting, Iowa; children, Jesse (Amanda) Boynton of Onawa, Iowa; Sarah (Joel) Van Wyhe of Sioux City, Iowa; Colton (Kali) Boynton of Blencoe, Iowa; her beloved grandchildren, Alivia, Josie, Jesse, Claire, Amber, Autumn, and Willow; four sisters-in-law, Tracy Ingram of Onawa, Iowa, Marilyn (Phil) Schroder of Onawa, Iowa, Peggy Ingram of Onawa, Iowa, and Barb Ingram of Omaha, Nebraska; three brothers-in-law, Robert (Patti) Ingram of Charles City, Iowa, Mike (Micki) Ingram of Mapleton, Iowa, and Steve Ingram of Onawa, Iowa; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

She was proceeded in death by her grandparents, George and Bonita Schmitz; grandparents, Harold and Mary Wilcox; father-in-law, Kenneth Ingram; and three brothers-in-law, Jim, Gary, and Don Ingram.
