Cecile Mae Gay, 105 years old, of Whiting, Iowa (formerly of Sloan, Iowa) passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

A funeral service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the Community Church of Christ, Sloan, Iowa with Dr. Emery Killian and Pastor Kody Killian officiating. (Social distancing measures must be followed, Due to Covid-19 restrictions- Masks are required for the visitation and service.) Burial will be in the Sloan Cemetery, Sloan, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service Saturday, February 13, 2021 at the church. After COVID-19, there will be a celebration of life service held at a later date. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.

Cecile Mae was born June 2, 1915 in Hornick, Iowa the daughter of Peter and Bertha (Able) Rysdam.

Cecile and Claire Warren Gay were united in marriage on August 17, 1937. Claire passed away on June 18, 1972. Cecile and Claire moved to their farm west of Sloan, Iowa in 1942. Cecile enjoyed being a homemaker and farm wife.

For several years, Cecile was a host at Wood Funeral Chapel in Sloan, Iowa.

She lived independently until July 27, 2012, when at age 97 she moved to Pleasant View Care Center in Whiting, Iowa.

Cecile was a member of the Community Church of Christ in Sloan, Iowa and the Christian Women’s Fellowship. She was a fifty year member of the Eastern Star in Sloan, Iowa and Onawa, Iowa.

Survivors include her four children, Jerry (Tonnie) Gay of Rogue River, Oregon, Roger (Susan) Gay of Umatilla, Oregon, Bob (Kathy) Gay of Sloan, Iowa, and Vicki Koenig of Sloan, Iowa; one sister, Virginia Larson of Whiting, Iowa; grandchildren, Wayne, Wendy, Gail, Debbie, Jenny, Brian, and Brad; great-grandchildren, Michael, Christopher, Rachel, Danelle, Chelsea, McKenzie, Nicole, Tristan, Taylor, Jaxson, Janie, Joanna, Finley, and Isla; and one great-great grandson, Marshall.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Claire Gay; her parents, Peter and Bertha (Able) Rysdam; brothers, Harold, Paul, Max, and Dale Rysdam; and sister, Opal Pauk.
