17 February 2021Phyllis Jean Dobrovolny, 92, of Castana, Iowa passed away Tuesday, February 9, 2021 at Maple Heights Nursing Home, Mapleton, Iowa.
A memorial service will be 10:00 A.M. Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel with Pastor Linda Boggs and Pastor Harvey Hanson officiating. (Social distancing measures must be followed, Due to Covid-19 restrictions- Masks are required for the visitation and service.) Burial will follow in the Center Cemetery, Castana, Iowa. Visitation will be 1 hour prior to the service Saturday, February 20, 2021 at the Rush Family Chapel. Arrangements are under the direction of Rush Family Care Service, Onawa, Iowa.
Phyllis Jean was born April 6, 1928 the daughter of Fredrick Richard “Dick” and Marivena (Graybill) Kisling. She grew up in Castana, Iowa and graduated in 1945 from the Castana Community School.
Phyllis and Lester Franklin Dobrovolny were united into marriage January 26, 1968 in Fremont, Nebraska. Lester passed away May 17, 2001.
She worked for over forty years at the Onawa State Bank, Onawa, Iowa. She enjoyed coffee with the ladies and going for car rides with her friends.
She was a member of the Castana Community Church, Castana, Iowa and a Charter Member of the Castana Ladies Aid.
Survivors include one step-son, Bruce; special nieces and nephews, Roger and Lynette Braesch, Norman and Connie Thoreson, Craig and Renee Thoreson; eleven other nieces and nephews; six special great nieces and nephews; and eleven great-great nieces and nephews; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lester Dobrovolny; three step-children; four brothers, Russell, Fred, Richard “Dick” and Jim; five sisters, Marge, Elva Mary, Alice, and Peggy; and two nieces.
