Former partner in Hart-Parr Co, – Dies

William Parr, 85, 1400 Dakota Ave., South Sioux City, a former partner in the Hart-Parr Tractor Co. which invented and manufactured Hart-Parr tractors at Whiting, Iowa. In the 1920's died Saturday at a Sioux City Hospital after a brief illness.

Mr. Parr served four years as a city councilman in South Sioux City in the 1930's. For the last 40 years, he had been engaged in gardening and truck farming in South Sioux City.

Funeral services for Mrs. Parr will be at 2 p.m. Monday at St. Paul United Methodist Church in South Sioux City. The Rev. Denny M. Silk will officiate. Burial will be in the Dakota City Cemetery under the direction of the Jack Becker Funeral Home of South Sioux City.

Pallbearers, all nephews, will be Eugene Curry. Edward and Lyle Goodwin, Elaine Burns and Kenneth and Kermit Parr.

Mr. Parr was born Sept. 3, 1887, at Missouri Valley, Iowa. He married Chloe Goodwin Oct 16, 1913, I. Sioux City, the couple resided at Whiting, Sioux City and Dakota City, before moving to South Sioux City in 1932. Mrs. Parr died Oct 27, 1948, I. South Sioux City.

Mr. Parr was a member of the Methodist faith.

Survivors include five daughters, Mrs. Annette Artz, Mrs. Mary Jane Lake and Mrs. Robert (Joan) Cornell, all of South Sioux City, Mrs. David (Violet) Entries of Grants Pass. Ore., and Mrs. Sam( Anne) Cimino of Prineville, Ore.:a son, Neal of South Sioux City; two sisters, Mrs. Anna Burns of Whiting, and Miss Edith Parr of Coleridge, Neb ; a brother Everett of San Jose, Calif.; 21 grandchildren and 24 great- grandchildren.
