Special from Rodney, Iowa - Friends of Marie Nickolisen wife of N. J. Nickolisen of this place were deeply grieved to learn of her death on February 8th on Sunday evening at 8 o’clock at her home of influenza. Marie Nelson was born in Timbery , Denmark, December 15th, 1867. She came to this country December 3, 1887 and was united in marriage to Nels J. Nickolisen at Fremont, Nebraska, November 26th, 1891. To this union was born five children, one girl dying in infancy. The living are Charles C. Hubet, Marion and Rose, all of this place who with their father remain to mourn her untimely death. She has always been a loving mother, and a devoted wife. She was one of those staunch, lovable characters, whom none knew but to love, and none named but to praise. Those who knew her best lover her and those who had occasion to depend on her always knew she would not fail them. Her life in this world epitomized goodness, unselfishness and graciousness. The funeral was held at the family home Tuesday at 2 o’clock, Rev. E. E. Barkley of Lincoln, Nebraska, officiating and interment was made in the Smithland Cemetery. The bereaved family have heartfelt sympathy of the entire community.
