Ralph C. Burns

ONAWA, Iowa

Ralph C. Burns, 80, of Onawa and formerly of Hornick, died Monday, Jan. 24, 1994, at the Onawa Hospital.

Services will be 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Wood Funeral Chapel in Sloan with Dean Swenson and Loran Skow officiating. Burial will be in Willow Township Cemetery, rural Holly Springs. Visitation, with the family present, will be 6 to 9 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Mr. Burns was born Nov. 23, 1913, in Hornick, the son of Ralph and Rose (Lenz) Burns. He graduated from Holly Springs High School in 1931. He married Neva L. Jensen June 6, 1940, in Valentine, Neb. He lived in the Holly Springs and Hornick area most of his life where he farmed, did electrical work, operated the Hornick Cafe and was employed at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Whiting. The couple moved to Onawa where he was an electrician at Westendorf Manufacturing, retiring in 1984. Mrs. Burns died Nov. 11, 1991, in Onawa.

Mr. Burns was a past member of Holly- Springs Hornick School Board, Westwood Community School Board, Hornick Farmers Coop Elevator Board, Hornick Town Council and Fire Department and Western Iowa Telephone Board.

Survivors include a daughter and her husband, Diane and Ray Craig of Sioux Falls, S.D.; two sons and their wives, Steven and Donna of Esko, Minn., and Randy and Sue of Sioux City; and six grandchildren.
