Mrs. G. V. Burns, 65, Hornick, died Saturday at an Onawa, Iowa, hospital.

The former Lola Buser, she was born July 2, 1907, in Sloan. She was a former schoolteacher at Smithland. She married G. V. Burns March 28, 1934, at Sloan.

She had been a resident of Hornick since 1962.

Survivors include the widower; three brothers, Wray L, Buser of Salix, William H. Buser of Sloan and Dr. Donald J. Buser of Davenport, and a sister, Mrs. Paul (Mildred) Thompson of Springfield, Ohio.

Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at the United Methodist Church in Hornick. The Rev. Keith Scott will officiate. Burial will be in the Willow Township Cemetery at Holly Springs under the direction of Wood Funeral Home of Sloan.

Mrs. Lulu I. Burns, Hornick, Iowa, passed away at the Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa, Iowa, on January 20, 1973, following a short illness. She had reached the age of 65 years, 6 months, and 18 days.

She was born at Sloan, Iowa, on July 2, 1907, the daughter of Wm Henry and Harriet Wray Buser.

On March 28, 1934, she was united in marriage to George V (Jim) Burns at Sloan, Iowa. For a number of years, the couple operated a resort in Minnesota and since 1962 had made their home at Hornick, Iowa. She was a teacher in the Junior High School at Smithland at the time of her death.

She was a member of the United Methodist Church at Hornick and of the United Methodist Women of the church, the United Teachers Profession of United States of America, and Quadna Chapter 249 O. E.S of Hill City, Minnesota. Lula attended Cedar Falls Teachers College and received her A B Degree from Morningside College.

Survivors are her husband, George of Hornick, three brothers, Wray L. Buser of Salix, Iowa, William H Buser of Sloan, Iowa and Dr Donald J Buser of Davenport, Iowa, one sister, Mrs. Paul (Mildred) Thompson of Springfield, Ohio and a host of other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Alice.

Funeral services were held at the United Methodist Church in Hornick on Tuesday, January 23, 1973, at 10: 00 a.m. with Rev. Keith Scott officiating. The Men's Trio sang "How Great Thou Art " and Mrs. Edward Black and Mr. Edgar Shupe sang "Mansion Over a Hilltop" The organist was Mrs. Edwin Helming.

Casket bearers were Maurice Fuller, Jerry Starkweather, Frank Kinnaman, Oliver Weber, Clyde Rose and Earl Miller.

Interment was in Willow Twp. Cemetery at Holly Springs, Iowa, with arrangements by the Wood Funeral Home of Whiting, Iowa.
