The Obituary of Frank Willis Hopkins, Castana

Frank Willis Hopkins, son of William and Miriam Hopkins was born February 18, 1863 at Nevada, Iowa and passed away from this life at Sioux City, Iowa July 12, 1946, at the age of 83 years, four months and 24 days.

With the exception of the first three years of his life he was a lifelong resident of Monona county.

In January 10, 1898 he was united in marriage to Susan Himes. To this union was born 14 children. Six children preceded him in death.

He is survived by his widow, eight children, Opal Collison, Blencoe ; Frank K., Castana; Mariam Gordon of St. Louis, Mo.; Madeline Krommenhoek, of Sioux City; Gertrude Markrid of George, Iowa; Henry a Blencoe; Bruce and Louis both of Morrhead; 25 grandchildren, a number of other relatives and a host of friends.

His passing will be deeply felt by all who had the pleasure of knowing him. He was deeply respected as a husband and father; a true friend and neighbor.

Services were conducted from pastor of the Christian church at Blencoe on Monday, July 15 at 2:30 p.m.. with Everett Epperson pastor of the Christian church at Onawa officiating. Burial was made in Graceland cemetery, with the Smith Funeral Home in Jana Mobley. The songs saying hi Mrs. Gordon rock and misses her and Hansen. They were accompanied at the piano by Mrs. Jana Mobley. The songs sang were “Inside the Eastern Gates” and “Abide With Me.” The pallbearers were John Comfort, Burr Comfort, John Butcher, Dale Maxwell, Wm. Burger and Arthur Rock. Mrs. Bernice Smith arranged the flowers.
