John A. Wilson

John a Wilson a longtime resident of the mapleton and Castana communities, passed away at Burgess Memorial Hospital in Onawa Iowa on January 31, 1973, at the age of 91 years in two days.

He was born at Essex Iowa on January 29, 1882, the son of John and Claire Wilson. He was in a general construction having retired from his occupation at the age of 72.

Survivors include his three daughters, Mrs. Ed (Wilma) Mauch of Fort Dodge, Iowa, Mrs. Jean Davenport, Omaha, Nebraska, and Laura Kleine of Castana, Iowa; one son Edwin Wilson of Creston, Iowa; one brother, Harry Wilson of Ontario, California, seventeen grand-children and two great grand-children a number of nieces and nephews. One son Robert preceded him in death as well as three brothers

Services were held at 1:30 PM Friday, February 2, 1973, at the Pearson Funeral Chapel in Onawa with the Rev. Everett Major officiating. Evan Davies sang “In The Garden” and “The Old Rugged Cross,” accompanied by Mrs. Evan Davies. Bearers were Vernon Mauch, Eldon Waples, Kenneth Parr, Ronald Mauch, Kermit Parr and Clarence Lorenzen. Interment was in the Center Cemetery in Castana with arrangements by the Pearson Funeral Home.
