AFFIDAVIT: Oct. 1947

I, Birchard Brush, being first duly sworn on oath depose and say that I am a resident of Michell County, Iowa, and have been such a resident for more than fifty years last past;
That this affidavit is made with respect to the real estate described as: Lot 1 Block 267, Osage, Iowa.
That I was well and personally acquainted with Margaret Dorsey, who took title to said real estate by warranty deed from Cecila Connell and Barney Connell, wife and husband, on Janury 18, 1898, which deed is of record in Book P of Village Deeds Page 450, Records of Mitchell County, Iowa; that said Margaret Dorsey died a resident of Mitchell County, Iowa; on or about the 5th day of July, 1924, leaving no spouse surviving her and leaving as her sole heirs at law three children, to-wit: Mary Mantanya, Nellie Dorsey and John Thomas Dorsey (also known as John T. Dorsey).
That said Margaret Dorsey left no Last Will and Testament and that I know that all her debts including those of last sickness and burial were paid in full; that I know that the property of which she died seized did not exceed in value the sum of $5,000.00 and that therefore there is no inheritance tax due from her heirs; that her estate was never probated.
I do further state that Mary Mantanya died at Waterloo, Iowa, on or about January 6, 1941, leaving no Last Will and Testament; that her estate was never probated; that she left no spouse surviving her and left as her sole and only heirs at law two children, to-wit: Virgil J. Mantanya and Mabel O'Connor; that all debts and expenses of the said Mary Mantanya were paid in full with the exception of a claim due the State of Iowa (through the State Board of Social Welfare, State of Iowa) for Old Age Assistance rendered said decedent which has now been released of record; that I know that said decedent at her death was possessed of practially no property and that any property she left was not of sufficient value to be subject to an inheritance tax.
