NEWELL STEVENS URE GILPATRICK MERCHANT

“In the name of God Amen.
I, Adaline H. Newell of the town of Mitchell, County of Mitchell, state of Iowa, of the age of sixty six years and being of sound mind and memory do make, publish and declare in maner
following, that is to say

first. To my sister in law Harriet A. Merchant the sum of fifty dollars.

To my daughter Emma H. Newell Ure I give and bequeath my mare Molly with cart and cow.

To my daughter Mary L. Newell Stevens together with my son in law Samuel D. Stevens I

give and bequeath my horse Dick together with double harness, lumber wagon and bobbs.

To my grand son Herbert R. Ure the watch that was his grandfathers.

To my grand daughter Mabel Stevens my silver fruit knife.

To my grand daughter Adaline M. Ure my afghan.

I appoint that the proceeds of my farm after my Executrix has taken out enough to pay for her trouble be evenly divided among my five children and also I hereby give my Executrix power to sell said farm whenever she may deem best. And also I appoint that to the price of the farm be added the money worth of my house and lots in the City of Mitchell and then be divided by five
evenly after each has taken out the sum left them by their father. And I give and bequeath to each of my five children one of the five shares into which the property was divided, Namely my son Daniel G. Newell one share, to my daughter Emma J. Newell Ure one share, to my daughter Adaline B. Newell Gilpatrick one share, to my daughter Oraletta F. Newell Stevens one share, to my daughter Mary L. Newell, one share. And also the things in the house of whatever name of nature be divided between my four girls as my daughters Emma and Mary jointly may see fit. And I hereby do appoint as my sole Executrix my daughter Emma J. Newell Ure and I recommend that my hears do settle according to this writing without taking this into court.
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this nineteenth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and ninety one. Adaline H. Newell.
