Robert E. Nelson, age 90 of Rock Island, IL, died Tuesday, October 6, 2009 at Heartland Health Care Center, Moline, IL.

Robert was born on March 18, 1919 in Dallas, Iowa, the son of Swan and Maria (Oelson) Nelson.

He married Vera Quistorff in June of 1944 in Wall Lake, Iowa.

Robert worked as a salesman for the Schulze & Burch Biscuit Company, retiring in December of 1977 following many years of service. He was quite handy, and could build just about anything out of scraps. He enjoyed carpentry work, fishing, stock car races, and was a fan of the Chicago Cubs, Chicago Bears, and Minnesota Vikings.

Survivors include his wife Vera, Rock Island; and son, David Nelson, Rock Island.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Swan and Maria Nelson; and siblings: Paul Nelson, Everett Nelson, Rolland Nelson, Russell Nelson, Ethel Logli, Esther Hansaker, Ruth Pope, and Virginia Karpan.
