He attended school at Pleasantville and graduated from Knoxville High School in 1954. He then attended the University of Iowa and transferred to Iowa State University where he received a mechanical engineering degree.

He worked as an engineer for the Stroh Corporation in the 1960's and became president of the company. He then started several of his own companies the first was Allied Mechanical in West Des Moines. Kent was a licensed mechanical engineer and he was the founder and owner of the Mosher Engineering Company in West Des Moines.

Even though he had a retirement party a few years ago, he continued to work everyday. He enjoyed working and being at the office. Kent belonged to work related associations such as: ASE, ASHRE, a charter member of the CSI, and a past Chairman of the Polk County Plumbing Board.

He also enjoyed deer hunting with family and being outdoors. Kent belonged to a Road Rally Club, the Iowa Ski Club, Singles Again, and the Cyclones Booster Club. He also loved to meet and watch people. You could always find Kent meeting new people and having a good time.
