Darl D. “Blue Jeans” Mendenhall, 58, of Albia formerly of Knoxville passed away on Saturday, November 21, 2009 at Knoxville Hospital and Clinic from injuries sustained in an accident.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, November 27, 2009 at Williams Funeral Home. Services will conclude at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.

Darl was born on April 13, 1951, in Unionville, MO; to Estle Carl and Dorothy Carlene (Drummond) Mendenhall.

He grew up in Missouri and attended country school in Martinstown until the eighth grade and then started high school in Unionville. The family moved to Knoxville in 1971.

He met and married Teresa Mikesell in 1976. They were married for 18 years.

Blue Jeans worked at various places in the Knoxville area and loved the idea of Truck Driving, hunting and watching car races. His greatest joy in his life was his mother, his children and his grandchildren.

Blue Jeans is survived by his mother, Dorothy Mendenhall of Albia, IA; three children, William Mendenhall, Shawna Mendenhall and her companion Corey Osborn, and Brandi Mendenhall all of Knoxville, IA; 5 grandchildren, Michael Osborn (4), Alexis Osborn (8), Lexi Mendenhall (10), Dee Jay Osborn (11) and Taylor Mendenhall (13), numerous other children and grandchildren which he claimed.

He was preceded in death by his father, Estle in May 19, 1982, brother, Carl Eugene Mendenhall on January 29, 2002, nephew, Michael Mendenhall, and many aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
