Juanita R. Stevens, 99, of Knoxville passed away on Sunday, November 8, 2009 at West Ridge Nursing and Rehab Center.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, November 10, 2009 from 6-8 p.m. at Williams Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, November 11, 2009 also at Williams Funeral Home with Pastor Michael Miller officiating. Burial will follow at Numa Cemetery in Numa, Iowa.

Juanita was born on February 25, 1910 at home in Numa, Iowa to Cory and Laura (Hamm) Lowe. She grew up in Numa and graduated from Numa High School on May 17, 1928. She then attended business school for 1 year in Centerville, Iowa. After her education she worked in the business office at the junk yard in Centerville and then wrapped butter at the butter factory.

On July 14, 1941, she married Leroy Edgar Stevens in Carrollton, Missouri. After their marriage Juanita became a mother and home maker to her family. To this union twin sons were born, James and Jerry.

Juanita lived life always with a pleasant spirit. She loved her family very much and they were all an important part of her life, every day.

Watching football, especially the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Pittsburgh Steelers was a favorite pastime, in addition to bingo in her later years.

She was saved at a very young age and loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.

Juanita is survived by her son, James and wife Charlotte Stevens of Swan, Iowa, daughter-in-law, Carrie Stevens of Knoxville, Iowa, 3 grandchildren, James Aaron Stevens of Swan, Iowa, Stacie Nichols and husband Scott and their children Eric and Kaelyn of Pleasant Hill, Iowa, and Mistie Stevens of Kansas, City, Missouri.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Leroy and son, Jerry.
