Miriam Louise (Mary Lou) Stubbs was born August 22, 1925 in Schaller, Iowa, the daughter of Vance Stubbs and Miriam (Wallace) Stubbs.

She graduated from the Pleasantville High School with the class of 1943.

Mary Lou was united in marriage to Marion Courtney on December 29, 1948 at the Capitol Hill Christian Church in Des Moines.

She was deeply loved and was an inspiration to her family and all who knew her. Mary Lou loved the Lord. She enjoyed teaching Sunday school to her great nieces and nephews as well as other children in the community.

Mary Lou has been a member of the Pleasantville Christian Church for over 68 years. She was an Elder, served on the church board and involved in the C.W.F. She lived out her faith serving others volunteering at the senior center, school, chambers, Pleasant Care Living Center, and serving on the library board. Mary Lou enjoyed the Red Hat Society Ladies and the Kitchen band.

Mary Lou worked at Pleasantville State bank for 20 years and was an avid antique dealer.

Mary Lou passed away on Monday, June 15, 2009 at Pleasant Care living Center at the age of 83 years, 9 months and 24 days.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Marion, infant daughter, Janie Lee, brother, Robert and a sister Marjorie Roberts.

Those left to cherish her memories are sisters-in-law, Mariann Stubbs of Pleasantville; Gladys (Don) Perkins of Des Moines; brother-in-law, Dick Roberts of Newton; nieces and nephews, Rona (Mark) McMurphy of Grimes, Deb (Dan) Krichau, Val (Kevin) Furnal, and Brian (Rhonda) Stubbs all of Pleasantville, Barry (Rita) Roberts of Adel, Charis (Bob) Wendt of Cainsville, MO, along with other relatives and many friends. She will be greatly missed and always remembered by all who knew her.
