Steve Norton, age 61 of Green Valley, Arizona died following a short illness at his home on Sunday, November 16, 2008.

A memorial service will be held December 12, 2008, in Knoxville, Iowa at Bybee & Davis funeral home.

Steve was born in Washington, Iowa on January 14, 1947, the son of Keith and Jeanne Norton. He grew up and attended the Washington schools until moving to Williamsburg, Iowa his senior year in 1966 where he graduated. Steve attended Truman University, graduating in 1970 with a degree in education.

He married Nancy Hall on November 26, 1966 in Washington, Iowa. After teaching a short time, Steve moved to Knoxville, Iowa where he worked for Perdock Inc. He also owned Stephen’s Family Restaurant he then spent 19 years at DeVore Motors until his retirement in 2004.

Steve enjoyed all kinds of outdoor activities, especially spending time watching races at the Knoxville Raceway and traveling to many Nascar events. Steve raced in the Knoxville Enduro many times including being the 1990 Champion. Steve also enjoyed riding his motorcycle.

Steve is survived by his wife Nancy; two sons, Keith Norton and wife Michele of Knoxville, Erik Norton of Knoxville; five grandchildren, Ashley, Seth, Kylie, Derrik, Alexus, and one great grandson, Tage. Also surviving are his mother, Jeanne Wallace of Mesa, Arizona, Kathy and husband Craig Shellady of Kalona, Claudia and husband Mike Kleinmeyer of Williamsburg, and Robin and husband Jeff Strayer of Columbus, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his father, stepfather, and his father-in-law.
