Nona Marie Farris was born September 9, 1931 in Des Moines, Iowa the daughter of Elmer and Ethel M. (Davis) Pherigo.

She was raised in Des Moines and graduated from Lincoln High School. In 1957 she moved to Williamson, Iowa where she raised her children.

In 1972 Nona moved to Mountain Home, Arkansas. She worked as a retail clerk in department stores, including Ella Thomas and Stage. She retired from Stage in 2006.

In March of this year Nona moved to Knoxville where her daughter Suzanne cared for her at home.
Nona greatly enjoyed her years in Mountain Home and the many friends she made. She loved to go fly fishing and was a life-member of the Elks Lodge.

She passed away on Wednesday, July 30, 2008 at her daughter’s home at the age of 76 years.
She was preceded in death by her parents and two sisters.

Nona is survived by her daughter, Suzanne M. Shilling (Thomas); her son, Jake Pherigo (Cindi) all of Knoxville, 9 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
