Fayleta Rosa Fisher was born February 8, 1914 in Chariton, Iowa the daughter of William Jackson McCoy and Julia Ethel (Wright) McCoy.

She was raised in Wheeling and graduated with the Pleasantville High School Class of 1933.

On August 31, 1934 she was united in marriage to Paul Hunter in Des Moines.

Paul drove a truck and Fay helped with the business. Paul was killed in a farming accident in 1954. Fay later married David Fisher and the couple resided in Pleasantville.

Fay worked for the V.A. Hospital and Look Magazine before accepting a job at the Federal Reserve Bank. She worked as a check sorter at the bank until her retirement in 1982.

Fay was very active in Pleasantville; she served as the first Girl Scout leader and was active in the Pythian Sisters. She was also very active in St. Paul’s; she played the piano, served as a youth leader and sang in the church choir. She also enjoyed growing large flower and vegetable gardens. In earlier years, she and Paul loved to go dancing. Her greatest joy in life was spending with her family; she cherished every memory they made.

She passed away on Monday, July 28, 2008 at the Mercy Medical Center, in Des Moines, at the age of 94 years, 5 months and 20 days.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husbands, Paul Hunter and David Fisher, infant son, Michael, 2 great-grandsons, David Alan Scovel and Jeremy Tyler Achenbach, , 2 infant brothers, 2 sisters, Veda Davis and Luella Dahleen, two brothers, Harlan and Lindsey McCoy.

She is survived by her daughter, Karen Heaberlin (Larry) of Prairie City, son, Richard Hunter of Pleasantville, step-son, Gary Fisher (Janie) of Pleasantville, step-daughter, Barbara Marchant (Gary) of Indianola, sister, Mary Hunt of Knoxville, two brothers, Billy McCoy of Gig Harbor, WA and Franklin McCoy of Dallas, TX, 5 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great grandchildren.
