Bernard Neville Booe, 88, of Mooresville, NC formerly of Des Moines, IA; passed away on Saturday, September 26, 2009 in Mooresville.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2009 from 2:00 ~ 7:00 p.m. with the family present from 5:00 ~ 7:00 at Williams Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, October 1, 2009 also at Williams Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Greenwood Cemetery.

Bernard was born on April 3, 1921 in Cameron, Missouri to Albert and Anna Booe. He attended and graduated from Trenton High School where he lettered in Football, Basketball and Track. He then attended a Junior College for 2 years. Bernard enlisted into the U.S. Army during W.W. II where he received a Bronze Star.

Bernard married Marjorie Brown of Knoxville and they made their home in Des Moines. She passed away on April 6, 1981. He was a locomotive engineer for Rock Island — Burlington Northern railroad for 36 years. He retired in 1982.

He later married Shirley Holtz and the couple moved to Hollister, Missouri and later to Olathe, Kansas. They then moved to North Carolina in March of 2007. He loved lakes, water, boats, trains, listening to the Glenn Miller Band , spending time at the lake and at Branson, Missouri. He was a member of the Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers. Bernard was also a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Denver, NC.

Bernard is survived by his wife, Shirley, son, Daniel (Kay) Booe of Clinton, IA; daughter Teresa (Booe) Jones and Adam Mueller and children Caitlin, Collin Jones of Denver, NC; stepson, Jeff (Rhonda) Wagoner of Winterset, IA; and their children, Sean Siebels, Hillary Siebels, Jessie Johnson and Rebecca Russell, stepson-in-law Craig McCann of Olathe, KS; and his children, Stacie Kagen and Colleen Gunby.

He was preceded in death by his parents, first wife, Margie Booe, 3 siblings, Pauline, Margaret and Paul, and stepdaughter, Linda McCann.
