Edward L. "Turtle" Cordle, 78, and a long time resident of Knoxville Iowa, joined the Love of his Life (Lola) and our Heavenly Father in Heaven on July 11, 2009.

He was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and a special friend to family, co-workers, and many, many others. Following in the footsteps of his father who was a Commissioned Naval Officer, Turtle also served in the Armed Forces in the Navy Sea Bees, during the Korean War.

Turtle was preceded in death by his wife (Lola) whom he was married to for almost 40 years, his father, mother, stepmother, brother, a special aunt, father-in-law, mother-in-law, 2 brother-in-laws, friends and comrades.

He is survived by his son, Robert Jay Sharp and wife Sandra, 3 grandchildren, Robert Chad Sharp, Angela D. Sharp, and Tamara A. Holdren/Harris and husband, Rob, 1 great-grandchild, Hunter Q. Harris, and many brother & sister-in-laws. This man would give the shirt off his back or his last dollar to family, friends, or total strangers in their time of need. He will be missed by all who knew him, and all who knew him are blessed, by the time they shared with him.

In death as in life, Turtle wanted to help others, and donated his body to Medical Science & Education, so other person’s lives could be extended or their quality of life could be improved here on earth.

A memorial service will be held August 1, 2009, 10:00am, at Williams Funeral Home with burial in Graceland Cemetery at a later date.
