Larry Dean Whitlatch was born on August 30, 1948 in Knoxville, Iowa, the son of Elizabeth Louise Smith and Frank Asbury Whitlatch. He graduated from Melcher High School. Larry served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Viet Nam Conflict.

Larry worked for many years at the Armstrong Tire and Rubber Company in Des Moines. He worked for AEA for several years in maintenance before his health forced his early retirement.

Larry was an avid Iowa Hawkeye fan. He enjoyed spending time helping his neighbors, gardening and spending time with his grandchildren. He always had a witty sense of humor that was enjoyed by all.

Larry Dean Whitlatch passed away on Saturday May 23, 2009 at his residence in Bondurant, Iowa at the age of 60 years.

Those left to mourn his passing are his daughter, Shelly Warrick and her husband, John of Prairie City, Iowa; three grandchildren: Connor, Colton, and Dylan Warrick; his twin brother, Gary Whitlatch of Ankeny; brother, David Whitlatch of Georgia; his mother, Louise Myers of Ankeny; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services were held on Wednesday, May 27, 2009 at the Williams Funeral Home in Knoxville with Pastor Edythe Hill officiating. Inernment will be at a later date in Dallas Cemetery, Dallas, Iowa.
