Helen Maxine Roff was born March 18, 1932 in Warren County, Iowa. She was one of four children born to Veda Marie Bowers and Joseph Everett Wheeldon. Helen attended school in Hartford and Prairie City where she was a basketball player.

On her 18th birthday, Helen was united in marriage to the love of her life, Lester Dale Roff. To this union 6 children were born.

Helen was a full time homemaker, cook and caregiver. She and Lester enjoyed country music programs together. In her free time Helen liked making quilts and doing embroidery. She spent many hours feeding and watching the birds and other wildlife that wandered into the yard. Helen loved her family and was very proud of them. She was given a special 77th birthday gift with the birth of her second great-granddaughter.

Helen passed away on Sunday, April 5, 2009 at the Knoxville Area Community Hospital at the age of 77 years and 18 days.

Helen was preceded in death by her parents and 2 siblings, Agnes and LeRoy.

Those left to mourn her passing are her husband of 59 years, Lester Roff of Knoxville; 6 children, Jerry Roff and his wife, Virginia of Pleasantville, Pamela Glick and her husband, David of Knoxville, Carla Herold and her husband, Dale of Pleasantville, Phyllis Roff of Knoxville, Roger Roff and his wife, Candis of Lovilia, and Darla Systma and her husband, Roger of Knoxville; 16 grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Louise Snow of Chariton.

Services for Helen Maxine Roff were held on Wednesday, April 8, 2009 at Williams Funeral Home with Rev. Brent Hanna officiating. Interment was in Greenwood Cemetery, rural Marion County, Iowa.

Casket bearers were Anthony Bender, Bradon and Michael Davis, Brian and Jared Glick, Andrew Herold, and Joseph Roff.
