Mildred Geneva Richards was born on October 21, 1916 in Belinda, Lucas County, Iowa. She was one of 13 children born to Fannie Lenig and Elmer Sylvester Richards. On March 17, 1940 Mildred was united in marriage to Dale Melvin Mason. To this union three children were born.

Mildred was also an active member of the Knoxville Lioness Auxiliary. For over 25 years Mildred volunteered at the Knoxville Senior Citizens Center. Mildred’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were a source of great joy. No one every stopped at her house without an offer of coffee and some type of snack; usually cookies.
