Dee Brandt, 83, died Sunday, October 18, 2009 from complications related to surgery in Lakeland, Florida. Dee was born April 6, 1926 in Melcher, Iowa to Ivan and Helen Crawford.
Dee traveled and visited many cities internationally. Her great love for people made her a blessing wherever she went, and people were drawn to her.
Before moving to Lakeland, Florida, Dee lived in Des Moines, Denver and Kansas City. In Lakeland, Dee was an active member of Christ the King Episcopal Church, where she faithfully ministered as a lay counselor, led a ladies Bible study, and visited the sick and elderly. These relationships formed a "family" bond for her away from Iowa. One relationship, however, overshadowed these earthly communions; it was her deep devotion to her LORD Jesus Christ, with whom she has now been joyful united in her eternal home.
Dee found great delight in her family. She is survived by daughter, Jan McCombe; five grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and her siblings, Alberta Hartley, Betty Blaine, and Joan Foster Hall. She was preceded in death by her two children, Dawn Marie Anderson and Rev. Lyle Arden Anderson; her husband, L. Christian Brandt; and her brother, Robert B. Crawford.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, October 23, 2009 at Hamilton's near Highland Memory Gardens, 121 NW 60th Avenue, Des Moines, with burial to follow at Highland Memory Gardens Cemetery.
