Holmes, Margaret E. – 1882-1954

Margaret E. Holmes, daughter of J. D. and Janette Harsin, was born August 24, 1882 near Durham and died February 8, 1954, at the Wilden hospital, Des Moines, at the age of 71 years, 5 months and 15 days. She lived in Marion county the greater part of her life.
On December 25, 1901, the deceased was united in marriage to Harvey William Holmes. To this union four children were born; Lieutenant Colonel Lester L. Holmes, Ankaka, Turkey; Mrs. Ada Janette de Camp, Knoxville; and Mrs. Margaret Emily Shoemaker, of Des Moines.
Surviving are her son, two daughters, two brothers, Gilbert Harsin, Harvey; and Charles N. Harsin, Tracy; four grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Alta, her husband and an infant daughter.
Mrs. Holmes, was a member of the Plymouth Presbyterian church and united with that church at an early age.
Funeral services were held from the Bybee and Davis funeral home Friday, February 12, Rev. R. O. Braaten officiated at the service. Burial was made in Greenwood cemetery.
