Frederick Redding, son of Mrs. and Mrs. C.N. Redding, was born May 11, 1887 and departed this life at the Mercy hospital in Oskaloosa on April 8, 1934, age 57 years, 10 months and 29 days.
He leaves to mourn his departure his mother, Mrs. Edna Redding, of Harvey; two brothers and one daughter; Arthur, of Des Moines, and James of Hamilton; and Vera of Cedar Rapids; and a great host of friends in the Harvey community.
Mr. Redding had been confined to the house for the past several months and was taken to the hospital several weeks ago. He confessed and accepted Christ in his home during his illness and was baptized and received into church membership by his pastor on Sunday, March 25. He was a very active member of the Big Brothers Sunday school class of the Harvey M.E. church and his departure leaves a shadow in the class. He was also a member of the I.O.O.F. lodge of Knoxville. He was a highly respected citizen of Harvey and will be missed in the community. Most of his life was spent in and near Harvey.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. S.P. Trostle in the Harvey M.E. church on Tuesday afternoon and burial was made in the Eureka cemetery. A large delegation of Odd Fellows were present and conducted service at the grave. The B.B. class occupied a section in the church, with one seat vacant in memory of Fred.
