GREEN.-The city was shocked Sunday morning to learn of the death of Mrs. Ida A. Green, wife of Fred E.Green, of the Green & Bentley Drug
Company. Mrs. Green had been quite ill for some time past and relatives had known of her serious condition and were apprehensive, but it was not
generally known that her condition was critical. The lady passed away at eleven o'clock Saturday evening, April 1, 1905, at her home at the
Adams place, corner High avenue and Third street. The cause of death was a complication of ailments with which the lady has been suffering to a greater or less extent during many years past. The physicians give the cause of death as sclerosis of the spinal chord, together with trouble of the
right lung, kidneys and jejunum. The illness of the lady, more or less acute and aggravated at times, covers a period of fully twenty years. The deceased is the daughter of Mrs. Lou Abraham, of this city, and of the late Mac Abraham, deceased. She is a sister of Mrs. Babe O'Brien, of Ottumwa, who was at the bedside of the sufferer, and of Fred Abraham, who arrived in the city Sunday morning. She has been an Oskaloosa lady all her life and is well and favorably known and hosts of friends are sorrow stricken at the announcement of
her death. She was a member of the Episcopal church, St. James parish, of this city. Mrs. Green will be remembered by a legion of friends and acquaintances. She was kindly in disposition and many are those remembering her on account of some kind or comforting word spoken or some quiet little attention paid. She had been ill much with an ailment that seemed to baffle the knowledge and the skill of all physicians. She has been a sufferer during years in which every attention was given to her. A loving and indulgent husband brought to bear every relief possible, and no
means was untried. Mrs. Green was 47 years, 6 months of age at the time of her death. Ida Abraham and Fred Green were married in this city, June26, 1890. Funeral at the St. James Episcopal
church at 2:30 o'clock p. m., Wednesday, April 5, with interment in Forest cemetery.
