Stella ‘Jean’ Pearson, 77, of Perry died Jan. 7, 2024, at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry, Iowa.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 19 at the Faith Bible Church in Panora.

Stella Jean Pearson was born on February 17, 1946, in Phoenix, Arizona to Charlie Walker and Rosemary Henson Walker. Jean grew up in Winterset, Iowa.

She met the love of her life, David Pearson, and they were united in marriage on July 24, 1982, at the Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Des Moines. They made their home in Delaware Township for 12 years before moving to Perry.

Jean worked for The Onthank Company in Des Moines for 20 years. She was very creative and this was seen in the things she lovingly made, whether it was sewing, knitting, teddy bears, costumes for family, or quilts for family and friends. She also loved decorating her home, especially for the holidays, and tending to her abundant flower gardens. Jean enjoyed participating in church activities such as knitting hats for newborn babies and making pies for various church gatherings.

She passed away on January 7, 2024, at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her two sons Michael Scott & Joseph James, her daughter, Melinda Sue, and her stepdaughter Laura Pearson Scott. Also, her siblings, John Walker, Bob Walker, Becky Allen, Opal Allen, and Terry Allen.

She is survived by her husband David; daughters Lynne Ripperger (Tim) of Waukee and Jen Ripperger (Mike) of Des Moines; stepsons Steve Pearson (Zina) of Des Moines, and Paul Pearson (Amy) of Des Moines; 10 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; brothers Jerry Allen (Debbie) of Indiana, and Larry Allen of Winterset, and Billy Allen of Council Bluffs; sister Betty Roberts of Winterset.

Stella JEAN Pearson died on January 7, 2024 at the Dallas County Hospital in Perry. Celebration of Life Services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 19, 2024, at Faith Bible Church in Panora. Hastings Funeral Home in Perry is in charge of these arrangements. In lieu of flowers the family asks for donation to Freedom for Youth, freedomforyouth.org.
