July 8, 1924 - November 8, 2023 (99 years old)

Katherine Caroline Weber, 99, of Holland, PA, passed away on November 8, 2023, at Holland Village and is now with her Lord and Savior. Katherine was born in Madison County, Iowa on July 8, 1924, the first child of the late John and Helen Williams.

Katherine was married to Charles Frederick Weber ("Fred") in October 1952, who preceded her in death in May 1992.

Katherine received her elementary education in a rural one-room schoolhouse and then graduated from Winterset High School, in Iowa, as class valedictorian in 1942. Upon graduation she taught in rural schools of Madison County for three years. During that time, she attended Tarkio College in Missouri for summer school to get her teaching certificate. She then moved to Des Moines, Iowa to work for Northwestern Bell Telephone as a draftsman. After marrying Fred Weber, Katherine moved to Philadelphia, where she worked briefly at Bell Telephone until she left to be a homemaker and start a family.

Katherine and Fred were parents of a son, John Frederick, who died shortly after birth in 1957, and two daughters: Marilyn Ruth, born 1959, and Margaret Ellen, born 1961.

Katherine loved the Lord and served in many ways at the Westminster United Presbyterian Church in Des Moines and then Mayfair United Presbyterian Church in Northeast Philadelphia. She managed wedding receptions held at the church, was active in women's groups, Bible studies, choir, Sunday school, and church functions, managed the church newsletter and memorials and later served as financial secretary. After moving to Holland, PA, she attended the North and Southampton Reformed Church for several years.

Katherine loved to travel! Throughout her life she traveled across the USA to see family and friends as well as national parks and state capitals. At the age of 90 she completed her goal to visit all 50 capitals. She also enjoyed international travel, with some of her favorite trips being to Italy, Iceland, and a music-based tour of Germany & Austria.

Katherine also enjoyed music here at home. In addition to singing in the church choir, she sang in various local groups, including the Bell Telephone singers (Des Moines) and the Community Chamber Singers (Philadelphia). She and Fred enjoyed many years of Philadelphia Orchestra concerts and attended the many concerts where her daughters or son-in-law were performing.

Katherine is survived by her daughters: Marilyn Ruth Clark of Holland, PA, her husband, Robert, and their daughter, Allison Katherine Clark; and Margaret Ellen Powala (Marge) of Bonita Springs, FL, her husband, Christopher, and their two children, Katherine Rose Powala (Katie) and William Virgil Powala (Will). Katherine is also survived by her nephew, John Williams and his wife, Deborah and their sons Curtis and Benjamin. She was preceded in death by her brother, Ralph Williams, and nephew Richard Williams.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation on Thursday, November 16th from 6:00-7:30pm and on Friday, November 17th from 10:00-11:00am at the North and Southampton Reformed Church, 1380 Bristol Road, Churchville, PA 18966. The funeral service will follow at 11:00am at the church. Interment will be at Whitemarsh Memorial Park, Ambler, Montgomery County, PA.
