Page 1Wm. Logan was born Oct. 4, 1825, in Blue Rock, Muskingdon [Muskingum] county, Ohio, and died Feb. 1. 1892, aged 66 years.
He was converted at the age of 21 years and united with the Methodist church to which he was connected until he united with the church triumphant in glory. He loved the church and was always found with his companion at the house of God. He was class leader for many years, besides holding many official relations of responsibility, all of which were well filled.
He was one of a family of twelve children.
He married Rachel White in his 28th year, who is left to mourn the departed. In 1864 he moved from Ohio to Benton county, Iowa. He lived on a farm until 1882, when failing health made it necessary to more from the cares of farm life to the town of Vinton.
About two months ago they decided to visit friends in Madison county for benefit of his wife's health, but God saw fit in his providence to call him first, while at the home of his sister-in-law, Mrs. M. Nicholson.
They had one child by birth, which died in infancy. Although bereaved of his own, he bestowed a father's love and care upon three orphan girls, one of which preceded him to the Heavenly home. The second he gave in marriage to Rev. J.G. Henderson, of the Kansas Conference. The third remains to cheer and comfort the home in the hours of this bereavement.
