Dean Gordon Emory was born in Adair County near Casey, Iowa, to Charlie and Mildred (Spooner) Emory on November 13, 1939. He passed away on April 12, 2024.

When Dean was six months old, his parents bought a farm north and east of Hebron, Iowa. There Dean attended country school and Greenfield High School. One year Dean went to Zion to school.
On July 27, 1968, Dean took Waunita Peterson for his wife at the Hopeville United Methodist Church. Their journey of 55 years blessed them with two sons, Michael Dean and Donald LeRoy.

Dean gave his life to Christ at the Hebron Church on April 11, 1971.

They purchased a farm in Madison County in June 1972. They lived there until September 2021. In the meantime, Dean farmed and worked at Cardinal Glass in Greenfield.

Dean faced life including a serious farm accident on November 3, 1983, as he had for 37 years. It never stopped him from working, he maintained anything he could. He enjoyed life and the many trips they took. He was always talking about them.

Dean’s legacy is carried on by his wife, Waunita; niece, Sandy Kusel and husband John; brother-in-law, Rick Fink; cousins, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; children; brother, Harlan and wife Sharon; niece, Sheryl Fink; and sister-in-law, Mary Myers.

Funeral Services: Will be held on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. at the Greenfield United Methodist Church with burial following in the Greenfield Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at the church following the burial. Pastor Gene Hinrichsen will officiate the service. The Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield is in charge of the professional arrangements. Family Visitation: The family will greet friends on Tuesday, April 16, 2024, from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Lamb Funeral Home in Greenfield.
Memorials: May be directed to the Hebron United Methodist Church and the Care Initiatives Hospice.
