Former Afton Boy Brutally Murdered
Dr. Lloyd Edgington Murdered and Robed Last Week Near Goodman, Wisconsin

Word was received her Sunday of the brutal murder of a former Afton boy Lloyd Edgington which took place near Goodman, Wis., on last Saturday. We have been unable to get any authentic details, but press dispatches say he purchased a ticket at Pembine, Wis., for Minneapolis. He is said to have had a large amount of money, $550, on his person at the time of buying the ticket, and later when his body was found along the railroad tracks, ..., there was only $5.00 in change.

He had just recently finished his college work in the study of medicine, having spent several years of had work to secure an education. Largely through his own efforts he financed his schooling. He was up in Wisconsin looking after the practice of a physician who was away on a vacation. He had been there last year.

Mrs. Nellie Harmon, sister of Lloyd was here the first of the week and she had a letter from him just a few days before his death and he was contemplating a visit to her in just a short time, when coming down here and visiting his mother at Lacona. Mrs. Harmon thinks as he bought his ticket at Pembine for Minneapolis that he was starting on his visit.

Two men are being held by the authorities for investigation in connection with the murder, but it is not known here what evidence there is in the matter. Robbery was evidently the motive. The papers last evening state that his pocketbook was found about a half mile from the body, but the money was all gone.

The people here regret very much this untimely death of Lloyd. He was a fine young man with a very promising future. Full of energy, a great deal of ability, a sunny disposition and ability to make friends it is unfortunate that he was cut down so early in life.

The body is expected here today on No. 3 and funeral services will be held this afternoon at the M.E. church and interment made in West Branch cemetery near Macksburg by the side of his father. Rev. Menoher of Corning will have charge of the services.
