Tuesday at nine o'clock occurred the death of John L. Greer, an old soldier in Macksburg, at the age of sixty-three years.
Mr. Greer formerly lived in this city and was a member of the G.A.R. Post here. He had been living in Omaha with a son and a short time ago went to Macksburg where he resided in an early day, to visit his old home and neighbors, when he contracted a heavy cold which developed serious complication resulting in his death after a brief illness.
A family of three daughters and five sons survive him. One daughter, Mrs. Mary McClallnin is a resident of this city. A brother, Elmer Greer and a sister, Mrs. J.S. Dudley also reside at this place.
Funeral services will be held at Macksburg at eleven o'clock Thursday morning and the remains will be laid to rest beside those of his wife in the Macksburg Cemetery.
