Eldon F. Cole, a resident of Valley View Village Assisted Living passed away at Taylor House January 6, 2024. Eldon was born August 31, 1931 in a log house near the town of Pillager, Minnesota to Ralph and Agnes Cole, the eighth of nine children. Eldon grew up on a small farm in north-central Minnesota and graduated from Pillager High School. On the farm he learned about raising livestock and agriculture. At the age of 11 he joined his father and brothers working both the farming operation and the timber and sawmill business until he left home for North Central Bible College.

Eldon was united in marriage to Irene Korfe on June 14, 1952 to this union was born Bradley (Melissa) Cole of Des Moines, IA, Barbara (Paul) Schmitt, of Ivins, UT and Brian (Marla) Cole of West Des Moines, IA.

Eldon served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Hoechst, Germany as a driver for the Armed Forces Radio Network. After serving in the Armed Forces, Eldon attended LeTourneau College earning a degree in Mechanical Sciences. After graduation, Eldon worked in industry for 18 years and did part-time ministry. In 1975, Eldon and Irene entered full-time pastoral ministry until he retired in 2013. Eldon and Irene served for more than 45 years in ministry and the last 10 years as a park chaplain in Zephyrhills, Florida. In 2013 Eldon and Irene made their home at Valley View Village in Des Moines, Iowa.

Eldon was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Irene, 3 sisters, and 5 brothers. Eldon is now reunited with precious wife Irene.

Precious in the sight of the LORD is the death of his saints. Psalm 116:15

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials may be given to the Gideon’s, Valley View Village Chapel, or the Taylor Hospice House.

Transcriber's Note: Eldon Cole lived in Earlham and was the minister of the Earlham Friends Church for several years He is buried at the Iowa Veteran’s Cemetery, rural Van Meter, Iowa.
