Raymond Ersa Finley, son of Raymond Malcolm Finley and Gladys Hainey Finley was born April 6, 1945 in Des Moines, Iowa and passed from this life Thursday, December 14, 2023 at his winter home in Rio Hondo, Texas at 78 years of age.

Raymond grew up in Des Moines and graduated from Des Moines Tech High School.  He served in the U.S. Army during the VietNam War.  He worked for CBI in Clive as a crane and loader operator and retired after 43 years.  Raymond was united in marriage to Barbara Jean Brant on September 21, 1970 in Omaha, NE and they were blessed with three children, Rick, Bobbi, and Brenda.

Raymond served many years with the Truro Volunteer Fire Department, was a retired umpire with the Des Moines Umpire Association and a member of the Truro Congregational Christian Church.  He enjoyed time with his family and enjoyed fishing and umpiring.  He always enjoyed his garden, especially his tomatoes.  Raymond and Barbara enjoyed wintering in Texas at Hummingbird Cove RV Park in Rio Hondo.  He will be greatly missed by his family and friends.

Those relatives who preceded Raymond in death were his parents, Raymond and Gladys Finley, brothers Donald and Frank Finley, brother-in-law Ivan Brown.

Raymond leaves to cherish his memory; wife, Barbara Jean Finley of Truro, IA, son, Rick (Bobbie) Finley of Truro, IA, daughter, Bobbi (Ronald) Hartfield of St. Charles, IA, daughter, Brenda (Kirk Alexander) Finley of Indianola, IA, grandchildren, Ricky (Amanda) Finley, Johnny (Karissa) Finley, Holly Finley, Taylor Hartfield, and Jordan Hartfield, great grandchildren, Lucas, Owen, Addy, Karson, Brayden, and Jasper, sister, Anne Brown of Waukee, IA, sister-in-law, Patsy Finley of Enid, OK and beloved dog, Hollie,  as well as other relatives and many friends.

Visitation will be Friday, December 22, 2023 at Kale Funeral Home in TRURO from 1:00 until 7:00 PM, his family will be present from 6:00 until 7:00.

Graveside services with military honors by the Winterset American Legion and Iowa Army Honor Guard will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, December 23, 2023 at the Young Cemetery near Truro, Iowa.

Memorial contributions may be directed to the Truro Volunteer Fire Department or the Pink Tractor Foundation in Raymond's memory, Thanks.
