George Delbert Post, 77, of Princeton, Mo., passed away Saturday, Dec. 2, 2023, at a Bethany, Mo., nursing home. He was born on Oct. 22, 1946, in Winterset, Iowa, the son of Delbert and Evelyn (Halbert) Post, and was raised by his grandparents, William and Margaret Post, who preceded him in death.

On March 9, 2008, he married Hilka Lincoln in Princeton, Mo. She survives of the home. George went to school in Winterset, and started working at the age of seven. His grandfather wanted him to learn to be a worker and not a loafer. He enjoyed spending time with his grandkids and talking on the phone with nieces, Pattie and Willie, whom he helped raise. He loved horses and cattle and enjoyed taking his horse teams with Hilka all over the country.

He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Pamela; grandson, Benjamin Duane Hostetler; brothers, Carl, Frankie, Junior, and Delbert Post; sisters, Della and Mary Post; step mother, Cleo; half brother, Larry; half sisters, Linda and Dianna, and sisters-in-law, Stella, Beverly, and Janet.

In addition to his wife, Hilka, George is survived by his sons, Billy Joe Post, Allen Auxier and Michael; daughter, Michelle Jones; step daughters, Carrie (Dewey) Hostetler, April (Bryan) Vandiver, and Lana Hail; mother-in-law, Mary Ann Lincoln; half brothers, Kalvin Post and Marty Keptheart; half sister, Rose; half sister-in-law, January; 27 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.

George has been cremated under the direction of Roberson Funeral Home in Princeton, Mo. The family will hold a Remembrance Service at the VFW Hall (116 N. 3rd St. in Winterset) at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 16.
