David E. Rockey, son of Harry J. Rockey and Bessie Loree (Christensen) Rockey, was born March 31, 1947, and entered the presence of our lord and savior Jesus Christ peacefully on Dec. 6, 2023, at Madison County Hospital in Hospice Care.

Dave graduated from Interstate 35 High School in 1965. He was united in marriage to Vicki Crow, the love of his life, on Sept. 23, 1967, at the Truro Christian Church in Truro.

Dave was in the Army Reserves. Dave loved people and helping others in everyday life. He not only had a ministry serving at churches, but he also served as a peace officer, working for the Phoenix Police Department for 30 years, following retirement as a police officer, he worked for the Natural Gas Pipeline in Truro for 18 years. He was a foster parent for 17 years to 27 children who had no father in their life. Dave enjoyed welding, blacksmithing, collecting antiques, hunting, farming, mowing, spending time with grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. He was a member of the Blacksmith Artist Association, and a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in St. Charles serving on the deacon board at the church and many other ministries for his lord and savior.

He loved going on adventures with good friends and getting together with classmates and friends. Dave loved going to the Iowa State Fair eating his way through it. He enjoyed going to auctions, always finding a bargain. He loved date nights with his wife, Vicki. Dave and Vicki enjoyed summers in Iowa and winters in Arizona.

Dave was proceeded in death by his parents; his sister, Mary Rockey; and infant son, Michael Rockey. David leaves to cherish his memory his wife, Vicki (Crow) Rockey of Truro and Phoenix, Ariz.; siblings, Herb (Marguerite) Rockey of Kennewick, Wash., Marcia Thoren of Des Moines, and Norm (Joanne) Rockey of Truro; children, Alan (Amanda) Rockey of St. Marys, Melissa (John Pierce) Rockey of Chandler, Ariz., Aaron Rockey of Phoenix, Ariz., and Kyle Rockey (fiancé Amanda) of Peoria, Ariz; grandchildren, Austin Bohannon of Chandler, Ariz., Abigail (fiancé Tyler Grandlich) Hepner of Mesa, Ariz., Daniel Hepner of Chandler, Ariz., Blaze Rockey of Peoria, Ariz., Zachary Capps, Lauren Capps, and Jacob Capps, Maverick Rockey and Sawyer Rockey of St. Marys; great-grandchildren, Aiden Bohannon of Mesa, Ariz., and Lilah Bohannon of Phoenix, Ariz.; as well as many nieces and nephews and close friends.

Services were held at the Calvary Baptist Church on Monday, Dec. 11. Interment followed the service at the Peru Cemetery.
