November 11, 1958 - December 09, 2023

A Funeral Mass for Sharon James, 65, of St. Charles, Iowa, will be held 10 a.m., Thursday, December 14, 2023 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in St Marys, with burial following at St. Charles Cemetery.

Sharon passed away peacefully at home, with her loving family, after a long battle with cancer. A Rosary will be recited at 4 p.m., Wednesday, December 13 at Overton Funeral Home in Indianola, with visitation following from 4:30 to 8 p.m.

More than anything, Sharon loved spending time with her family. She was a tremendous, patient and loving mother to six kids. She spent years running kids to practices, following them to games, and sending them off to Boy Scout trips. She made the best meals for family dinners and had an incredible ability to show love through acts of service. She enjoyed long car rides with her husband throughout the country. They spent time traveling to Amish stores and orchards. She loved canning and sharing her creations with everyone, playing daily scrabble with her husband and driving the golf cart for him, spending time at home with family and pets, and enjoyed life in the country. She enjoyed working for 25 years as a postmaster with the United States Postal Service. She will be deeply missed by all.

Sharon is survived by her husband, William “Bill” James; children, Daniel (Margaret) Llewellyn, Bryan (Robin) Llewellyn, David (Shala) Llewellyn, Jeremy James (Carly), Marie (Juan) Rodriguez, and Shannon James; and nine grandchildren, and a host of extended family.

Sharon was preceded in death by her grandparents, Edna "Hazel" and Bill Buckingham, Thomas and Marjorie Smith; and sister, Norma Smith.
Memorials, in her memory, may be given to Iowa Right to Life.
