John L. Hodge & James Hodge

Looking for any details about John L. Hodge (my great, great uncle) who left the UK (poss. Cardross in Scotland) in the 1850s to work on the railroads in Ohio and Canada - he may have been a civil engineer or surveyor. In 1900, his widow (name unknown) and 5 children were living in Toledo. The youngest was called James, who was born about 1859.
