Grandview, June 20 - Last Friday morning the people of this place were surprised and shocked to hear that James Martin had died. About two years ago he had an attack of heart trouble but recovered and was able to be our again until a few months ago when the same trouble took a more firm hold on him and between 10 and 12 o'clock last Thursday night he was found dead in bed.

Mr. Martin was born February 17, 1846, in Harrisburgh, Pennsylvania and died in Grandview June 15, 1899, aged 53 years, 4 months and 4 days. He came to Grandview with his parents in 1850 and was married to Miss Angeline Winder, December 30, 1866. He leaves a wife, two daughters and one son to mourn his loss. Funeral services were held Saturday from the M. E. church conducted by Rev. Bevan.
