Letts, May 23- A gloom of unusual darkness hung over our little city last Sunday morning when it was announced that Shep Curtis had died in the early morning. It was a great surprise for his sickness was of such short duration that the news of his death came to us like a thunder bolt from a clear sky. He was confined to his room only four days. The first appearance of the disease was the swelling of his nose which rapidly spread over the entire face. Mr. Curtis leaves father, mother, brothers and sisters, also a host of friends. Funeral was held today from the M. E. church conducted by Rev. D. C. Bevan. Interment in the Letts cemetery. The funeral was in charge of the G. A. R. post, old soldiers acting as pall bearers.
