Jessie S. Walker was born in the state of Ohio, June 1, 1821 and died at his home near Fredonia, December 9, 1898, aged 77 years, 6 months and 8 days. He was united in marriage with Charlotte Isham October 15, 1843. To this union were born eight children, four of whom with an aged companion mourn the loss of a devoted husband and kind father.

He was converted and united with the M. E. church at the age of 21 and lived a faithful Christian life and for several years was a local preacher and was called upon in different places to conduct the last sad rites of many of the old settlers. Uncle Jessie Walker will be greatly missed in the church and by his large circle of friends, being held in the highest esteem by all who knew him, endearing himself to every one by his many excellent qualities and gentle manner.

All who visited him during his illness remarked the spirit of perfect resignation and the never failing patience shown throughout his weeks of suffering, ever grateful for any act of kindnesses no matter how trivial. He felt no dread of death but would say it was all right. The hour came peaceful and quiet December 9, when the weary sufferer was at rest. The funeral service was conducted from the Fredonia church and a large company of friends followed his remains to its last resting place, the Indian Creek cemetery.
