Wapello, August 31 - Henry L. Smith was born in Rockbridge county, Virginia, October 7, 1835, and died at Wapello, Iowa, August 27, 1898, aged 62 years, 10 months and 20 days. Mr. Smith had been a resident of Wapello many years. He served in the civil war in the 1st Oregon infantry. His immediate family consists of a wife, daughter and son. The funeral services occurred from the Methodist church, Monday afternoon under the auspices of A. M. Taylor B. A, R. Post Rev. Pool officiating.
