River Bluff, May 31 - This neighborhood will miss Father Devore as he was loved by all who knew him. Mother Devore is quite poorly. Wm Devore was born in brook county, West Virginia, March 14, 1818 and died at his home in Union township, Louisa county, Iowa, on May 26, 1898, being 80 years, two months and 12 days of age.

Mr. Devore spent his youth in Virginia and Ohio and on the 28th day of February, 1838, he was united in marriage to Miss Elizabeth Massey. To them were born 15 children, eight of whom, three sons and five daughters, live to mourn the loss of their father.

In October, 1875, he came to Louisa county, Iowa and settled in Union township, which place he has made his home ever since. Father Devore has been a faithful Christian worker for more than 60 years. Two of the children live in Davenport, one in Muscatine, two in West Virginia, one in Fredonia, Iowa and two in Union township. There are 3? grand children and 45 great grandchildren.
